2020 Cohort Announcement

With the successful kick-off of Cardinal Women* on September 1st we would like to announce that 60 individuals have been selected to participate in this personal and professional leadership development program specifically for womxn who are faculty and staff at Iowa State University.

Thirty of these womxn, along with 10 small group leaders, will engage in five two hour appropriately distanced and mask-to-mask sessions this fall, participate in large and small group discussions, and continue the conversation between sessions via Canvas.  The additional 30 womxn, along with 10 small group leaders will engage in five two hour appropriately distanced and mask-to-mask sessions this spring, participate in large and small group discussions, and continue the conversation between sessions via Canvas. A joint Cardinal Commencement for both the fall and spring groups is planned for May 21, 2021.

Program topics include identifying and silencing the inner critic, discovering and utilizing your inner mentor, communication style strategies, approaches to negotiation, and how to support and affirm those who identify as womxn in our community.

This program is being offered at no cost to participants and these womxn were selected from the 120 applications received for the program. Cardinal Women* was developed and is being led by Tera Lawson, Procurement Services, and Dr. Denise Williams-Klotz, Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.
